HOLTON \u2014 Charlotte Ruth Gay, 75, formally of Midwest City, Oklahoma, died Sunday, March 21, 2021, in Holton.<\/p>\n
Charlotte was born Aug. 16, 1945, in Lawrence, the daughter of Charles Floyd and Percie Ruth (Durkee) Anderson. She was taught by both of her parents, who were teachers, until she graduated eighth grade.\u00a0She attended Twin Mound and Richland grade schools. She graduated from Overbrook High School and began her college studies at the University of Kansas when she was 16.\u00a0She later received her bachelor\u2019s degree in radio and television from Washburn University.<\/p>\n
She married Allen J. Morse, and the two were later divorced.\u00a0She had worked for the Topeka Public Library and the Topeka Bookmobile. Charlotte moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma, in 1982, where she met her second husband, Bernard Gay. Charlotte lived in Midwest City for over 35 years. Due to health reasons, she later moved to Holton to stay with family.<\/p>\n
Charlotte was known as a kind and caring person.\u00a0She enjoyed tending to her flowers and plants. She also was a race fan who enjoyed attending car races, especially Sprint car races, and she was a member of a Sprint car racing pit crew.<\/p>\n
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bernard Gay.<\/p>\n
She is survived by her son, Tim (Mellissa) Morse, Holton; grandchildren, Tess Portiner (Eric), York, Nebraska, Jonathan (Breonna) Morse, Wichita, and James Morse, Kansas City, Missouri; and three great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n
Graveside Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 27, at the Overbrook Cemetery, with interment to follow.\u00a0Services will be streamed live on the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home Facebook page for friends unable to attend.<\/p>\n
