TOPEKA \u2013 Marcelene \u201cMarcie\u201d Mastell, Melvern, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, at the Plaza West Nursing Home, Topeka. She was 82.<\/p>\n
Marcie was the fifth of eight children. She was born April 2, 1938, in Victoria, Texas, the daughter of Samuel G. and Mamie Nell (Bonner) Palmer. She graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1957. She received an associate\u2019s degree from Houston Vocational Technical College.<\/p>\n
On June 15, 1965, Marcelene was united in marriage to Robert Marshall Mastell in Smyrna, Tenn. It was then she began her life as a military wife. They shared over 55 years of marriage. To this union they shared two daughters, Norma Jean and Sue Ann.<\/p>\n
Marcie was employed for 17 years at Jostens Printing Company, Topeka, where she worked in the layout department. She retired in 2012. Marcie was City Clerk of Melvern for many years.<\/p>\n
Marcie loved being a Girl Scout leader for her daughter\u2019s troops. She had a passion and unique artistic ability in making a variety of crafts. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially attending all of her children and grandchildren\u2019s school sporting events. She never missed her daughter\u2019s games and everyone in the gymnasium could hear her yelling for them to \u201cshoot\u201d throughout the entire game. Marcie\u2019s warm spirit and smile will be dearly missed and she will remain in the hearts and thoughts of her family and friends forever.<\/p>\n
She is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Fay Charlene Hudnall and June Palmer; three brothers, Marshall Palmer, Novie Palmer and Troy Palmer.<\/p>\n
Survivors include her husband, Robert, of the home; two daughters, Norma Jean Schaefer (Jim Lickteig), Richmond, and Sue Ann Mastell-Meidinger (Gary), Topeka; two sisters, Normadene Smith, Trinity, Texas, and Kay Darlene Wilson, Fort Smith, Ark.; six grandchildren, Tarya, Cody, DJ, Robert, Jared and Amber; and one great-grandchild, Nikko.<\/p>\n
