William “Bill” Birtell<\/strong>
\nAug. 19, 1934 \u2013 Dec. 16, 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

TOPEKA \u2014 William “Bill” Birtell, Auburn, died Monday, Dec. 16, 2019, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. He was 85.
\nHe was born Aug. 19, 1934, in Topeka, the son of Walter and Alta Buchanan Birtell.
\nBill received his doctorate in veterinary science from Kansas State University. He owned and operated Auburn Animal Clinic for many years, operated a hog farm operation and was then a rural mail carrier until he retired.<\/p>\n

He married Carolyn Hanson, Aug. 19, 1978, in Wakarusa. She survives of the home.<\/p>\n

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Alta.<\/p>\n

Besides his wife, he is survived by five children, Judy May, Burlington, Colo., Douglas Birtell, Topeka, Greta Birtell, Duncanville, Texas, Victoria Clark, Lecompton and Rebecca Williams, Topeka; a brother, John Birtell, Wakarusa, a sister, Shirley Carls, Wakarusa; three granddaughters and three grandsons.<\/p>\n

Burial was in Auburn Cemetery. A memorial service will be held in the spring.<\/p>\n
