Eula Catherine (Coffman) Shepard

OVERBROOK — Eula Catherine (Coffman) Shepard died Sunday, April 17, 2022, at her home in Overbrook. She was 97.

She was born March 19, 1925, in rural Carbondale, the daughter of Claire John and Elda Flo Coffman. She graduated from Carbondale High School in 1942.

Eula was united in marriage to LeRoy Israel Shepard Jan. 23, 1946, in Carbondale. To this union they shared two children, John LeRoy and Linda Catherine. Eula and LeRoy shared over 45 years of marriage before LeRoy’s death April 7, 1991.

She worked for Singer Sewing Machine Company as a seamstress. She was a seamstress all of her life and was known by many in the community as the “Raggedy Ann Doll Lady,” because she made dolls for many children. She also did alterations. She and LeRoy owned and operated Shep’s Enterprises, Overbrook, selling cars and boats for over 25 years in Overbrook.

Eula was a member of Grace Community Church, Overbrook. Most of all, she loved being a devoted and caring wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; her parents, Claire and Elda; and her sister, Velma Jane Vann.

Eula is survived by her children, John LeRoy Shepard, Overbrook, and Linda Catherine Prockish (Thomas), Topeka; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Corey, Richard, Ashla and Eustacia; 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Grace Community Church, Overbrook. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow in the Overbrook Cemetery.
