HILLSBORO — Alan LaVerne Coxen, Marion, died peacefully Monday, April 12, 2022, at Salem Home, Hillsboro. He was 91.

He was born Sept. 5, 1930, in Osage City, the son of Manuel and Helen Coxen.

Alan was a graduate of Kansas University and served his country in the United States Army.

He was united in marriage to Donna J. Dyck July 7, 1954, in McPherson.

Alan was a geological engineer for Phillips Petroleum prior to retiring and moving to the Marion Co. Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Alan is survived by his children, Donald Coxen (Melissa), Tuttle, Okla., Alane Brumbaugh (David), Bartlesville, Okla., and Andra Johnson (Daniel), Booneville, Ark.; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Lela Prine, Osage City, and Alice Caton (Jim), Rossville.

A celebration of life service was held Friday, April 15, at the Marion Cemetery.

Yazel Megli Funeral Home, Marion, is assisting the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital and sent in care Yazel Megli Funeral Home, 205 Elm St., Marion, KS 66861.
