Tommy Ray “Tom” Leuszler

LYNDON — Tommy Ray “Tom” Leuszler died Friday, April 1, 2022, at his home in Lyndon. He was 78.

He was born Feb. 21, 1944, in Topeka, the son of Robert M. and Helen B. (Mathey) Leuszler. He grew up in Lyndon. He had lived in Topeka for a time before moving back to Lyndon.

Tom served in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970, and then worked as a meat cutter for Ohse Meats. He later went to work for the City of Lyndon, retiring after 23 years as superintendent. From 2003 to 2009, he was a custodian for the Appanoose Grade School.

He was united in marriage to Bridget (Wills) Haney June 10, 2005, in Burlington.

Tom was a member of the Lyndon United Methodist Church, the Meat Cutters Union and the Lyndon American Legion Post #125.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen, and his brother, Robert L. Leuszler.

Tom is survived by his wife, Bridget, of the home; his son, Michael Leuszler (Germaine), Topeka; three grandchildren, Alexis, Jacob and Gabriel Leuszler; his sister-in-law, Arlene Leuszler; two nephews, Rob Leuszler (Mary Ann) and John Leuszler; two nieces, Cindy Locey and Jeanne Clark; and five great-nieces, Andi Leuszler-Hammack (David), Amy and Anna Leuszler, and Emily and Katy Locey.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. The family will receive friends and family from 10 a.m. until the service. Burial with military honors will be at Lyndon Cemetery.
