TOPEKA — Richard Roy Richardson, Carbondale, died Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022, at Midland Hospice Care, Topeka. He was 88.

He was born Aug. 16, 1933, in Mosby, Mo., the only child of Roy and Martha (Beard) Richardson.

Richard lived in Topeka, prior to moving to Carbondale 40 years. He served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956 and served aboard the USS Harwood. He then worked as a union ironworker for Local 10, Topeka.

He was united in marriage to Brenda Biesemeyer June 5, 1978, in Topeka. She preceded him in death Aug. 28, 2021.

In addition to his wife, Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Martha.

He is survived by his five children, John Graham, Fredericksburg, Va., Ronna Richardson, Pyatt, Ark., Kevin Richardson, Burlingame, Mark Jackson, Marion, Ohio, and George Richardson, Joplin, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. Burial will follow at Carbondale Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the U.S. Navy. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hope In The Valley Equine Rescue and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
