CARBONDALE — Barbara Jean “BJ” Snyder, Carbondale, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at her home. She was 71.

She was born June 12, 1950, in Asheville, N.C., the daughter of Robert and Emma Jean (Holcomb) Ball. She grew up and attended schools in Carbondale, graduating from Carbondale High School with the Class of 1968.

Barbara was united in marriage to Julian “Lee” Snyder July 2, 1975, in Miami, Okla. She was a stay-at-home mom and military wife. From 2003 until 2018, she owned and operated Be Jeweled jewelry and gift store, Scranton.

She was a member of the Scranton V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling, listening to all genres of music, and making jewelry. She will be remembered as a giving and loving supporter to her family and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Michelle Mills.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Julian “Lee” Snyder, of the home; three children, James “Jim” Mills, Oklahoma, Malinda Snyder, Scranton, and Caleb Snyder, Topeka; a sister, Linda Kramner, Topeka; two brothers, Robert “Bobby” Ball, Carbondale, and Jeff Ball, Florida; a grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will also be at a later date at the Carbondale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Scranton V.F.W. Auxiliary and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 268, Overbrook, KS 66524.
