KANSAS CITY — Peggy F. Kampsen, Vassar, passed away peacefully Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at KU Medical Center, Kansas City. She was 81.

She was born Nov. 29, 1940, in Topeka, to Edwin E. and Mittie K. (Deal) Newell. She graduated from Highland Park High School.

Peggy married the love of her life, Raymond Kampsen, Nov. 11, 1978, in Jonesboro, Ark.

She enjoyed crocheting, making things for friends and giving them away, playing computer games and mowing.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Wood.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond Kampsen; her children, Bobby Finley, Mike Finley, Patty Paulsen and Penny Weckwerth; her brother, Billy Newell; her sister, Billie Duffie; and numerous grandchildren.

Peggy requested no formal services, and her family is honoring her wishes.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, 235 S.W. Topeka Blvd., Topeka, KS 66603.
