OSAGE CITY — Evelyn Marie Williams, 87, Osage City, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2021.
She was born July 30, 1934, in Burlingame, to Jesse and Eva (Saffle) Mundy. She spent her childhood there, and attended Burlingame High School until her senior year, when she attended and graduated from Topeka High School.
In December 1950, Evelyn was united in marriage to Floyd “Bud” Williams. They had four children, Dan, Teresa, Mike and Dave. The family lived in Scranton for about 30 years before relocating to Osage City.
Evelyn worked various jobs, including grocery stores and bartending, and spent 16 years at Hallmark. She retired from Frito Lay after 30 years, where she started in packing and worked her way up to Quality Control Supervisor.
In her spare time, Evelyn enjoyed gardening, spending a lot of time outside caring for her flowers. She was a 38-year member of Eagles Auxiliary 3890, Osage City. She was also an avid KU fan, sometimes making friendly wagers with family members who supported K-State on who would win when the Kansas teams played each other. She adored her great-granddaughter, Ashlyn Asbury, whom she says was the apple of her eye, and Evelyn hopes that she misses her.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Williams; sons, Mike Williams and Dave Williams; two grandchildren, Justin Wayne Asbury and Brian James Asbury; brothers, Raymond Dale Mundy and Bud Mundy; and three sisters, Mary Beth, Joyce Ann, and Lillian Rae.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Knight, Osage City; son, Dan Williams (Carol), Elkhart, Ind.; sisters, Judy Billings and Kathy Mizer; three grandchildren, Garth Asbury, Osage City, Jason Williams and Kevin Williams; three great-grandchildren, James Williams, Ashlyn Asbury and Anthony Asbury; and several great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth St., Osage City, KS 66523.
