MAIZE — Stephen Michael Reves, 66, Maize, died Saturday, June 12, 2021, at his home.

He was born July 7, 1954, in Topeka, the son of D. Lyle and Laura Mae (Fenton) Reves. He grew up and attended school in Burlingame, graduating with the class of 1972. He graduated from an auto repair trade school, and later a travel college, both in Wichita.

Steve had a 30-plus-year career with the Santa Fe Railroad, now the Burlington Northern Santa Fe, as a track welder. He retired in 2014.

He was united in marriage to Cindy Oltman Sept. 9, 1988, at Chapel in the Hills, Rapid City, South S.D.

Steve was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees, Local 2405 of Newton. He enjoyed square dancing, crewing for hot air balloons, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Reves; and a sister, Joyce Greene.

Steve is survived by his wife, Cindy, of the home; his mother, Laura Reves, Carbondale; a brother, Don Reves (Gloria), Duncan, Neb.; a sister, Denise Barr (Jack), Carbondale; a brother-in-law, Joe Greene, Carbondale; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Steve bequeathed his body to the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City. Inurnment will be at a later date.

A celebration of life will be held 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at the Elm Community Building, 228 Main Street, Carbondale.

Memorial contributions may be made to KSDS Assistance Dogs Inc., 120 W. Seventh St., Washington, KS 66968 or to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 194, Burlingame, KS 66413.
