OSAGE CITY — Edwin Clyde Mueller Sr. died Monday, June 7, 2021, at his daughter’s home in Osage City, surrounded by family.
He was born July 25, 1937, in Chicago, Ill., the son of John E. and Gertrude (Sunagel) Mueller. He left high school to join the United States Air Force.
Ed was joined in marriage to Ilene Kay Freeman Aug. 23, 1957, in Osage City. She preceded him in death on Sept. 16, 2019.
Ed worked as an iron worker in Chicago in his younger years. He joined the Osage City Police Department in 1984 and became Chief of Police from 1994 until his retirement in 2003. He later served as City Commissioner in Osage City from 2005 to 2016.
He loved watching and going to car races. He was a member of Free Masons, Boy Scouts and Iron Workers #67.
In addition to his wife, Ilene, Ed was also preceded in death by his parents; two sons, John Irwin and Irwin Joe Mueller; and a sister, JoAnn Wagner.
Ed will be forever remembered by his daughters, Teresa Nell (Toby) and JoAnn Baumann (Steve), both of Osage City; a son, Eddie (Mary) Mueller Jr., Admire; a sister, Fern Petramle, Illinois; a brother-in-law, Max Freeman, Osage City; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 10, at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, Osage City. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 11, at the Osage City Community Building. Cremation will follow the service.
