OSAGE CITY — Joseph Clancey Lawless died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, due to complications from a stroke. He was 53.

He was born Jan. 3, 1968, in Emporia, the son of James P. “Pat” Lawless and Phyllis Ann “Steen” Lawless. He graduated from Osage City High School in 1986.

He was employed as a master carpenter. In his pastime he enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching KU basketball and spending time with his children.

He was preceded in death by his father, Pat Lawless.

His survivors by three children, Cayla Erinn Lawless, Kelsey Jo Lawless-Smelser and Patrick Brennan Lawless; his mother, Phyllis Lawless; and two brothers, Patrick and Kelly Lawless.

Due to COVID-19, private family services will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Church, Osage City, and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth St., Osage City, KS 66523.
