TOPEKA — Larry Dean Bauerle Sr., Vassar, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka. He was 80.

He was born Jan. 21, 1940, in Holton, the adopted son of Roy and Dolly (Murphy) Bauerle.

Larry lived in Topeka and had been coming to Pomona Lake since 1985. In 1994, he moved to Vassar, where he has lived since.

Larry served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1963. He worked as a truck driver and for Rosen’s, near Pomona Lake. He was a member of Appanoose Baptist Church, north of Pomona.

He married Norma Jean Anderson Nov. 29, 1958, in Holton. She survives. To this union, two sons were born, David and Larry Jr.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Dolly; a son, David Bauerle on Dec. 17, 2019; two brothers, Dareld and Harold Lacey; and two sisters, Daisy Lacey and Marilyn Haire.

Besides his wife of 62 years, he is survived by a son, Larry Bauerle Jr. and wife, Lori, Hutchinson; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Bauerle, Topeka; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Appanoose Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22 at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. Inurnment will be in Vassar Cemetery at a later date.
