CARBONDALE — Kandy Jean Hinck, Carbondale, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021. She was 66.

Kandy was born Sept. 21, 1954, the daughter of Marlan Shively and Shirley Wolf Talbert. She attended Carbondale High School and Santa Fe Trail High School.

Kandy married Larry Hinck Sept. 12, 1971, in Carbondale. He preceded her in death.

She retired at the age of 60 from Frito-Lay after 42 years of service. Kandy was very active in the community and served on the Carbondale City Library Board and was secretary treasurer of the Carbondale Cemetery. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and ensuring that each grandchild received a special handmade gift for Christmas.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, McKenzie Hinck.

Kandy is survived by four children, Lonnie Hinck (Kimmy), Brian Hinck (Nicole), Kristi Pickett (Randall), and Holly Hinck; 14 grandchildren, Shelby, Dakota, Andrea, Macy, Savannah, Ashleigh, Alexandrea, Brady, Riley, Bain, Raven, Presley, Camden and Krislynn; and four siblings.

Visitation will be 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17 at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 S.W. Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks and social distance are absolutely required.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18 in Carbondale Cemetery, E. 149th St. and South Adams St., Carbondale. An attempt will be made to stream the service on the Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home Facebook page.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carbondale Library and sent in care of Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 S.W. Urish Road, Topeka, KS 66614, because Kandy had a love for her grandchildren and the children in the community.
