TOPEKA — Clayton Troy Spinks, Lyndon, entered into heaven Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020, surrounded by his family at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka. He was 63.

He was born Dec. 12, 1957, in Springdale, Ark., the son of Troy and Margaret (Boyd) Spinks. Clayton grew up in Arkansas and lived in Lyndon since 1983.

He graduated from the Tulsa Welding School, in 1979 and worked for General Electric as a welder during the construction of Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant, at Burlington. He served in the Army National Guard. He then worked as a drywall specialist for Drywall System Inc., of Wichita, for the last several years.

Clayton was united in marriage to Penny Lou Gilliland May 23, 1981, in Burlington. She survives. To this union, three children were born, Angela, Troy and Stephen.

Clayton was preceded in death by his father, Troy.

Besides his wife of 39 years, he is survived by three children, Angela (Nicholas) Foreman, St. Joseph, Mo., Troy (Hannah) Spinks, Clarinda, Iowa, and Stephen (Ashley) Spinks, San Clemente, Calif.; his mother, Margaret Spinks, Rogers, Ark.; a brother, Nathan Spinks, Lowell, Ark.; and five grandchildren, Emmalynn Spinks and Christian, Noah, Isabella and Alexa Foreman.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at Lyndon Cemetery. Clayton will lie in state from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Clayton Spinks Memorial Fund and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
