TOPEKA — Joseph P. “Jody” Getsinger Jr., Osage City, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020, at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka. He was 77.

He was born July 28, 1943, in Ashville, N.C., the son of Joseph P. and Lola Mae (Brazil) Getsinger Sr. He graduated in 1961, from Osage City High School.

He Married Linda K. O’Brien April 20, 1963, in Osage City. She survives of the home. To this union, two children were born, Melinda Jo and Joseph D.

Jody owned and operated The Body Shop for many years then went into partnership with Lawrence Buenger. Later he became a Farm Bureau Insurance Agent.

He loved his family, cars, NASCAR races, which he went to every year and he had a tradition of going to his favorite race, the Indianapolis 500, whenever possible where he enjoyed time with friends and family. He especially loved attending all his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting and school events. Jody never met a stranger.

He was a member of Lions Club and a 50-year member of Osage City Volunteer Fire Department.

Besides his wife, he will be forever remembered by a daughter, Melinda Jo Mooradian and husband, Chad, Meriden; a son, Joseph D. Getsinger and wife, Sharidy, Osage City; a sister, Darlene Dorr, Topeka; four grandchildren, Jonah M. Mooradian, Anna M. Mooradian and fiancé, Spencer L. Qualls, Keenan J. Getsinger and Emma N. Getsinger; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Twin Lakes Cruisers and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth St., Osage City, KS 66523.
