OSAGE CITY — Florence Ila Ferdinand died Monday, Oct. 12, 2020, at Vintage Park, Osage City. She was 98.

Florence was born Sept. 8, 1922, on the family farm, southwest of Lyndon, the daughter of Clarence Edgar and Florence Augsta (Umdenstock) McCreight. She graduated from Lyndon High School in 1941.

She married Harold L. “Jack” Ferdinand Feb. 5, 1950, in Topeka. He preceded her in death. She was a farm wife and homemaker on their dairy farm.

Florence was a member of Miller Methodist Church and a former member of the Sunshine Club and Admire Women Association.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Nancy Jane Ferdinand; two brothers, Irvil McCreight and Carol David McCreight; and five sister, Edna, Fannie, Edith, Myrtle and Eva.

She will be forever remembered by a daughter, Thelma Thomas and husband, William, Allen; a son, John Ferdinand and wife, Joy, Miller; eight grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, Osage City. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Osage City. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 16, at the funeral home.
