Mae Lorraine Emery
Aug. 12, 1932 – March 17, 2020
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — Mae Lorraine Emery was reunited with her husband, Lindy, in Heaven above, Tuesday, March 17, 2020. She was 87.
Lorraine was born Aug. 12, 1932, at her parents’ farmhouse, in Red Willow County, Nebraska. She grew up experiencing the old fashion farm life, with a variety of livestock, chickens, daily chores and even had her own pony. She attended a small country schoolhouse with all grades taught in a single room and teacher. She later graduated from Kearney State College, in Nebraska, with an administrative business degree.
Lorraine married Lindy Emery Sept. 8, 1953. Their union lasted for over 61 years until his passing on Jan. 26, 2015.
Lorraine was a homemaker, great cook/baker, seamstress and gardening expert. Once she discovered your favorite dish or dessert, you could count on her preparing that upon your visit. Early on as the family grew, she sewed stylish pieces of clothing and mended others to help supplement the budget. Also, baby quilts were especially made for each of her grandchildren. She regularly attended and volunteered at church and led a true Christian life. She also was a Girl Scout leader and Boy Scout den mother. One of her strongest passions was to support voting rights, serving for 40 plus years on the election board and working local elections sites.
She truly was a very special and unique individual. She always had positive things to say about everyone and avoided criticizing. No matter what the situation, you could count on her to have the right choice of words.
Those left behind to cherish her memories are a daughter, Janeen Boettger and husband, Tim, Hot Springs, Ark.; a son, Bob Emery and wife, Kim, Decatur, Texas; and a daughter, Linda Skeet (Nov. 6, 1957 to May 24, 2020) and husband, Allan, Whitesboro, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Lindsay, Allison, Brock, Brooklyn, Bret, April, Amy, Holly, Summer and Mandy; and 12 great-grandchildren, Abe, Norah, Maddi, Myla, Malayna, Robby, Everett, Eastyn, Harper, Sawyer, Addalyn and Eli.
Due to the difficult times with COVID-19 and safety considerations, a video tribute in lieu of a funeral service is being assembled. An electronic version will be distributed to all family and friends. Lorraine and Lindy had chosen Rose Hill Cemetery, Stratton, Neb., for their final resting place. A very small private graveside service will be held honoring that request 10:30 a.m. Aug. 29.
Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs, Ark.
