SCRANTON — Larry lee Parsons, Scranton, died Saturday July 25, 2020, at home. He was 80.

He was born Sept. 27, 1939, in Burlingame, the son of Earl Jay Parsons and Erma Beauchamp. He was a carpenter in northeast Kansas most of his life before retiring.

He married Merlin McDaniels Sept. 26, 1965, in Topeka. She survives.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry Dean Parsons; two brothers, Marvin Duane Parsons and Delbert Parsons; a sister, Velda Flowers; a sister in-law, Erma Parsons; and a granddaughter, Randi Lynn Crosby.

Besides his wife of 54 years, he is survived by four daughters, Sherry Sullivan (the late Shorty Goodyear), Lyndon, Valerie Lynn (Ken) Fogel, Lebo, Shirly (Jim)Patterson, Topeka, and Michelle Parsons (Michael Moore), Topeka; three sons, Philip (Ramona) Parsons, Scranton, James McDaniels-Parsons, Topeka, and Earl Parsons (Vicky Brown), Scranton; 12 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Verla (Clayton) Hunter, Hoyt; two bothers, Glen (Joyce) Manning, Silver Lake, and Jim Parsons (Joyce Whitlow), Pea Ridge, Ark.

Private services will be held at a later date.
