POMONA — Ron L. Stiffler, Pomona, died Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at his home with family by his side. He was 63.

Ron was born July 22, 1956, in Ottawa, the son of Lloyd L. and Luella A. (Rockers) Stiffler. He was a lifelong resident of the Pomona/Williamsburg area.

He graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1974. He continued his education at Flint Hills Technical School, Emporia, receiving his certificate in automotive technology.

Ron married Cheryl Gardner-Totman Aug. 18, 1990, in Quenemo, and were happily married for nearly 30 years. She survives of the home.

Ron was employed with Hallmark Cards, in Osage City, for 14 years as a mechanic and worked in the warehouse. He later worked as a carpenter for many years.

He enjoyed anything and everything the outdoors had to offer. He was an avid outdoorsman, loving to fish, trap and hunt. He acquired a large collection of self-gathered arrowheads, fossils and gems. He never found a puzzle he couldn’t solve. He was creative and often built his own tools.

He was an extremely hardworking man who loved to tell stories. He enjoyed his family and passing along his knowledge to his children and grandchildren.

He attended the Greenwood Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Stiffler; and twin sisters, Suzanne Marie and Rose Ann.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother, Luella Stiffler, Ottawa; two children, Abby Johnson and husband, Pat, Lyndon, and Michael Totman and wife, Kim, San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Pam Chanay and husband, Charlie, Beaufort, S.C.; and six grandchildren, Paige Gebhardt, Kahle Gebhardt, Finley Totman, Keeley Totman, Joseph Totman, and Areia Totman.

Cremation has taken place. Family will meet with friends 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020, at Dengel and Son Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Ron Stiffler Memorial Fund or Franklin County Cancer Foundation and sent in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067.
