TOPEKA — Betty Jean Mitchell, Osage City, died Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka. She was 94.

She was born Sept. 21, 1925, in Arcadia, the daughter of Joseph and Maude Buchanan Harris. She lived in Osage City since 1956.

Betty was a homemaker and worked for Bell Telephone, in Wichita, and Farm Bureau, in Osage City. She was a Girl Scout leader for several years and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, in Ft. Scott and Osage City.

She married Charles Mitchell, July 13, 1946, in Arma. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2002.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Maude and all of her siblings.

Betty is survived by a son, Terry Mitchell, Michigan Valley; three daughters, Rebecca Jones and husband, James, Clearwater, Fla., Elaine Hicks and husband, Monte, LaConnor, Wash., and Linda Jones and husband, Marty, Osage City; 11 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Betty’s family will greet friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon, a graveside memorial service will follow at Osage City Cemetery.
