OVERBROOK — Jerry Ray Myers, Scranton, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook. He was 79.

He was born Oct. 3, 1940, in Harveyville, the son of Ray and Doris Evans Myers.

Jerry served over 14 years in the U.S. Navy as a guided missile maintenance technician during the Vietnam War. He then served in the Kansas Army National Guard, at Forbes Field, in Topeka. He was a member of the Scranton VFW.

He has been married and divorced.

Jerry is survived by his two sons, David Myers, of California, and Tony Young and wife, Kim, Leavenworth; two daughters, Terri Lee, Osage City, and Lyra-a Spoonemore, Topeka; a brother, Orville Myers and wife, Sandy, Topeka; two sisters, Cheryl Glover and husband, Gerald, and Patty Murray and husband, Steve, all of Topeka; eight grandchildren, Justin (Allison) Lee, Jason (Kellie) Lee, Scylar Spoonemore, Scott Spoonemore, Samantha Spoonemore, Krystal Young, Katelyn Young and Kyle Young; and three great-granddaughters.

Graveside services for will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, at Scranton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
