OVERBROOK — Jose Pagan, Overbrook, died Feb. 9, 2020, at his home. He was 84.

He was born Jan. 25, 1936, in Ciales, Puerto Rico, the son of Migel Pagan and Consuelo Pagan. Jose grew up in Puerto Rico, graduating from Ciales High School.

He served his country in the U.S. Army from June 1955 to November 1962 attaining the rank of private second class. During his military service, he was a kitchen supervisor eventually serving at Fort Riley.

After his military service, Jose moved to Topeka, working for the City of Topeka Pollution and later for Oneok Gas Company, as a foreman. In June of 1981, he moved to Overbrook, where he has lived since. During this time, Jose mowed for the township for 13 years.

He married Sharon Maghey, Dec. 30, 1977, in Puerto Rico. They shared over 42 years of marriage. She survives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four sons, Greg Pagan and wife, Karla, Topeka, Timothy Tillman and wife, Sabrina, Tecumseh, Daniel Tillman, Overbrook, and Jose Pagan Jr., Overbrook; two brothers, Titi Cabiya and Miguel Cabiya, both of Ciales, Puerto Rico; two sisters, Laura Cabiya and Candida Cabiya, both of Ciales, Puerto Rico; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Scranton. Interment will follow at Richland Cemetery, Richland. A rosary will be recited 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Overbrook, followed by a visitation from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
