BURLINGAME — Charles S. “Pete” Peterson, formerly of Burlingame, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020. He was 86.

He was born April 14, 1933, in Topeka, the son of John N. and Bertha S. Morganroth Peterson. He graduated from Burlingame High School in 1951.

Charles was a member of the U.S. Air Force, where he served for four years. He worked for Santa Fe Railroad and retired in 1996.

Charles married Ina P. Manning, in 1956, at Lyndon. They celebrated 63 years of marriage. She survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Johnny Peterson; a sister, Eva Masters; and a grandson, Troy Tyson.

Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Kim Tyson, Burlingame, Carla Kelly and husband, Jeff, Parker, Colo., Karen Anderson and husband, Warren, Burlingame, and Cathy Michael and husband, Mark, Osage City; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was cremated. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Burlingame Federated Church, Burlingame. Inurnment will follow in Burlingame Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice and sent in care of Carey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 196, Burlingame, KS 66413.
