EMPORIA — Clifford Leroy Spade, formerly of Admire and Burlingame, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020, at Holiday Resort Care Center, Emporia. He was 84.

He was born Aug. 13, 1935, in Emporia, the son of Clifford B. and Olive Hinck Spade.

He married Ann Marie Phillips June 3, 1956, in Americus. She survives.

Leroy and Ann owned and operated Burlingame Locker Company, Burlingame, for 17 years. He was a butcher all his life.

He was a member and former Director of Kansas Meat Processors Association. While living in Burlingame, he was a member of Burlingame City Council, a volunteer with Burlingame Volunteer Fire Department and Lions Club.

He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping and traveling with his wife.

He was preceded in death by a sister; Marilyn Haag.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Steven Spade, Cherokee, Okla., and Michael Spade, Holton; three daughters, Diane Marie Dysart, Netawaka, Sherri Spade Thomson, Tonganoxie, and Marsha Mitchell, South Boston, Va.; a brother; Leland Spade, Admire; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10 at United Methodist Church, Admire. The service will be conducted by Pastor Diane Euler of the church. Burial will follow in Admire Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.
