Melvin Leroy Croucher

TULSA, Okla. — Melvin Leroy Croucher, Osage City, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at Clarehouse Hospice, Tulsa, Okla. He was 92.

He was born March 28, 1927, in Osage City, the son of Fred and Mabel Plackett Croucher. He graduated from Osage City High School. After high school, he proudly served with the U.S. Navy.

He married Pauline Savaiano May 26, 1951, in Osage City. She preceded him in death on Dec. 5, 2011. To this union, three children were raised, Nancy, Donna and Steve.

Mel owned and operated a filling station in Osage City for many years and later worked at Hallmark Cards.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Steve Croucher; and a brother, Glenn Croucher.

He is survived by two daughters, Nancy Weddle and husband, Mike, Jefferson City, Mo., and Donna Bridenstine, Tulsa, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 7 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Osage City. Family will receive friends Friday, evening 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, Osage City. Burial will take place in Osage City Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to American Legion Post 198 and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth St., Osage City, KS 66523.
