Junior Bearcats undefeated in YMCA football


BURLINGAME—This fall the third and fourth grade Burlingame Bearcat football team competed in the Topeka YMCA tackle football league. The team completed a 7-0 regular season competing against the Osage Indians, Rossville Dawgs, Seamen Vikings and Wabaunsee Stallions.

In their first playoff game on Oct. 23, they defeated the Seamen Vikings 13-0 to advance to the championship on Oct. 30 at the Hunt Family Foundation Youth Football Field at Arrowhead in Kansas City. They then defeated the Wabaunsee Stallions 6-0 to capture the league championship.

The Bearcats finished the season with a perfect 9-0 with six shutouts and an average game score of 19-3, only giving up four total touchdowns the entire season.

Burlingame Recreation and the Kevin Masters Memorial Golf Tournament provided equipment for the team.
