Scranton gears up for Saturday in the Park

Scranton will host its annual Saturday in the Park June 26-27. Festivities begin with the annual classic car cruise-in 5-9 p.m. June 26. Prizes will be awarded. A barbecue meal will be served 6 p.m. at Scranton City Community Building.

The fun continues 7 a.m. Saturday with breakfast served at Scranton Community Building by the United Methodist Church. A walk and run will begin at 7 a.m. Multiple vendors will be selling their wares.

The parade will begin lining up at 9:30 a.m. at Scranton Attendance Center. The Scranton Lion’s Club parade begins at 10 a.m. and will run through the downtown. Following the parade, a barbecue meal will be served at Scranton Community Building.

Rides will be available with purchase of a wristband from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. A bike rodeo at 11 a.m. and turtle races at 11:30 a.m. will follow the parade.

Get in on the water balloon toss at noon. At 12:30 p.m., a basketball shooting contest begins. Sand volleyball starts at noon and tire bowling is 1-3 p.m. A fee will be charged for the bowling, with prizes awarded for the top three scores.

At 4 p.m., the double elimination horseshoe tournament begins. A fee will be charged and participants will draw for their partner. Individuals 16 years-old and older are eligible to enter. Prizes will be awarded.

Attend the live concert 7-9 p.m. by Kristina Craig Band, hosted by Heritage Country Cowboy Church. Tickets are available for purchase that night.

The grand finale of the day will be a fireworks show at 10 p.m, presented by Scranton Fire and Rescue. Attendees should bring a lawn chair or blanket to the show.
