HESSTON—The Osage City Indians sent a pair of golfers to the Class 3A State Golf Tournament May 26, where junior Duncan Fort finished in a four-way tie for 14th.
Teammate Ethan Thompson also hit well, finishing nine strokes back in a four-way tie for 55th place, finishing at 90.
“I am very proud of both Duncan and Ethan for their performances at state,” said Osage City coach Tracy Watkins. “Duncan bettered his finish last year by six places.
“His 81 was impressive in the very wet conditions, but he played even better than he scored,” Watkins said. “He gave a few strokes away which kept him from a top 10 finish, but this was the best he played all season.”
Fort wrapped up the year as a back-to-back league champion.
Thompson, a senior, finished with his best score of his career.
“For Ethan to shoot his best score of the year at the state tournament in less than ideal conditions was also impressive,” Watkins said.
