BURLINGAME — Robert W. Tindell, Burlingame, died Sunday, July 31, 2022. He was 94.

He was born Jan. 15, 1928, in Burlingame, the son of Lloyd and Elva (Standiford) Tindell. He graduated from Burlingame High School in 1945, and attended Kansas State University prior to enlisting in the United States Navy.

He was married to Barbara Grieves on February 22, 1948, in Burlingame.

Mr. Tindell was part owner and operator of Tindell’s Hatchery during its operation by the family. He worked as an electrician prior to employment by the Dupont Cellophane Plant, Topeka. He retired from Dupont after 27 years, with most of this time in the maintenance department as a mechanic. He also had cattle and did some farming.

He was a member of the Federated Church of Burlingame, past member of Burlingame School Board, American Legion Post 198 and VFW Post 1650.

Mr. Tindell is survived by his daughters, Lynn Barnes and Donna Schooler (Buck); four grandchildren, Nicole Gilkison (Adam), Matthew Barnes (Mary), Amanda Stewart (Tom) and Clint Barnes (Jackie); nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his mother, Elva Tindell; two brothers; and one sister.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Federated Church of Burlingame, 322 South Topeka Avenue, Burlingame. Inurnment will follow in Burlingame Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice or VFW Post 1650 and sent in care of Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 S.W. Urish Road, Topeka, KS 66614.
