OVERBROOK — Vicki Faye Simpson, Burlingame, died Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook. She was 72.

She was born Sept. 2, 1949, to Mildred Dolores “Dee” and Gene LaVere Zirkle. She grew up in Burlingame, graduating from Burlingame High School in 1967, and then attended Clark Business School. After graduating, she worked at the Kansas State Office Building. While raising her sons, Vicki ran a daycare out of her home, where she loved each and every child she cared for as though they were her own. Later, she worked for many years at Josten’s, as a proofreader and typist.

Vicki was an avid crocheter and coin collector, but her true passion was her family, who will miss her dearly.

She is survived by her sons, Carl Richard “Rich” Simpson Jr. (Trena), Topeka, and Martin Gene Simpson, Burlingame; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Kathy Teeter (James), Lebo, and Gay Friedli (Kim) and Mary Bailey, both of Burlingame.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
