SALINA — Janet K. Williamson died Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, at her home in Salina, Kansas, after a long battle with cancer. She was 73.

She was born Oct. 29, 1948, in Topeka, the daughter of Charles R. and Lila M. Shepard. She grew up on the family farm in Carbondale, and graduated from Carbondale High School in 1966. She then attended Emporia State University.

In 1970, Janet married Tom A. Williamson. To this union two children were born, Scott and Laura.

Janet worked for USD 305 for a number of years, and before she retired she was the athletic secretary at Salina South High School. She loved to sew and quilt and take road trips with her sewing pals to fabric and sewing stores throughout Kansas. She also enjoyed visiting national parks and seeing the great outdoors.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Janet is survived by her husband, Tom; her children, Scott Williamson, Overland Park, and Laura Hodgson (Joe), Topeka; two grandchildren, Cole and Kaci Hodgson; and her sister, Karen Long (Dennis), Carbondale.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. It was Janet’s wish to be cremated. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
