BURLINGAME — Gary M. Buek, Burlingame, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022, at Osage Nursing Center, Osage City. He was 82.

He was born March 7, 1939, in Topeka, the son of Hayden and Nadine (Morgan) Buek. He grew up and graduated from Burlingame High School with the Class of 1957.

Gary was united in marriage to Virginia Ward. She died Oct. 25, 1962. From this union four children were born, Pam, Richard, John and William. Gary married Shirley Shoemaker May 1, 1965, in Perry. From this union one child was born, Bradley.

After 31 years, Gary retired as a supervisor at Hallmark Cards, Topeka. He was a farmer and raised livestock on the family farm for many years. He was a member of the Federated Church, Burlingame. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and especially enjoyed playing Pitch.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia; and two sisters, Beverly Hoffer and Carolee Hendersen.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley, of the home; a daughter, Pam Sims (Jerry), Canton, Ga.; four sons, Richard Buek, Topeka, John Buek, Burlingame, William Buek, Topeka, and Ret. Lt. Col. Brad Buek (Melissa), Acworth, Ga.; a sister, Jane Roth, Burlingame; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the Federated Church, 322 S. Topeka Ave., Burlingame. Interment will follow at the Burlingame Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 503 S. Topeka Ave., Burlingame.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Federated Church of Burlingame or the American Heart Association, and sent in care of Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O. Box 194, Burlingame, KS 66413.
