TOPEKA — Verna Lucille (Ard) Morris, Osage City, died Monday, Dec. 13, 2021, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka. She was 79.

She was born Sept. 30, 1942, in Osage City, to Elmer and Venerva (Harper) Ard. There she spent her childhood and graduated from Osage City High School.

Verna married Raymond Morris Nov. 3, 1967. To this union, four children were born, Bruce, Raymond Jr., Linda and Suzanne.

She dedicated her time and attention to her children, and would do anything for her kids and her family. She also loved her pets, often needing reminders that they didn’t always need to eat the same things she was having. She was a people person and would give anything to help those who needed it. In her free time, she enjoyed walking around town, visiting with those she met along the way. Even through her years of dialysis, she looked forward to seeing everyone when she went to her appointments.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents and 12 siblings.

She will lovingly be remembered by her husband of 54 years, Raymond Morris Sr.; her children, Bruce Morris (Brenda), Raymond Morris Jr., Linda Zouplna (Tony), and Suzanne Morris; her sister, Lois Gurtler (Roger); four grandchildren, Chelsa Morris, Chandra Morris, Chase Morris and Anton Zouplna; two great-grandchildren, Brentlee and Kinsley; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, Osage City, with funeral services immediately following at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Osage City Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Raymond Morris Jr. (for final expenses), and sent in care or VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth St., Osage City, KS 66523.
