EMPORIA — Donna Whalen, 75, Emporia, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at the Holiday Resort Care Center, Emporia.

She was born Nov. 21, 1945, in Wichita, the daughter of George and Mary (Fiene) Wolf.

Donna worked 30 years as a clerk for the Pawnee County Treasurer’s office, retiring in 2010. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, Emporia. She was a past 4-H leader, Sunday school teacher, member of the hospital auxiliary, member of the United Methodist Women, a Girl Scout leader, and a member of the humane society.

She married Ernest Whalen Feb. 1, 1969, in Osage City.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Lou Wolf and Virginia Shaw.

She is survived by her husband, Ernest; her daughter, Kelli Butler, Emporia; and her sister, Ann Gile, Sarasota, Fla.

Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at the First United Methodist Church, Emporia. Pastor Ron Harris will be officiating. Inurnment will be at Cesko Czechoslovak Cemetery, Caldwell, at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the H. Dale Buck Animal Welfare Fund and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, 605 State St., Emporia, KS 66801.
