OVERBROOK — Richard (Dick) Earl Haas died Friday, April 16, 2021, at Brookside Assisted Living Apartments, Overbrook. He was 91.

He was born Sept. 6, 1929, to Irving and Fern Haas at the family home in Overbrook. He graduated from Baker University in 1951, and married his high school sweetheart, Wanice Walker, May 27, 1951. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He taught and coached at Shawnee Heights High School for over 25 years in USD 450, retiring in 1989.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Wanice, and sister, Dorothy James.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Gregg and Cindy Haas, Berryton, Gayla and Grant Anderson, Olathe, Gwenn and Rob Pike, Shawnee, and Gary and Mona Haas, Clarkston, Wash.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A visitation with family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 3, at Berryton United Methodist Church, Berryton. A private memorial service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, at Berryton United Methodist Church.

Dove Southeast Chapel is assisting the family.
