Arlene Loudell Briggs Peters

TOPEKA — Arlene Loudell Briggs Peters, Topeka, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020, at Lexington Park Health and Rehab, Topeka. She was 94.
She was born April 14, 1926, on the family farm north of Burlingame, the daughter of Alvin L. and Elma I. (Wells) Briggs. She grew up in Burlingame and graduated from Burlingame High School in 1943.
Arlene married Maurice Hayden Peters Sept. 5, 1947, in Osage City. To this union they shared a daughter, Joan Elaine. They shared over 46 years of marriage, before Maurice passed away on July 14, 1994.
Arlene worked over 10 years for the Kansas Power and Light, in Topeka. She would spend most of her working life as homemaker, taking care of her family. She later worked for Southwest Publishing, in Topeka, in the mailing department.
Arlene was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Topeka. She volunteered at KTWU, in Topeka. She enjoyed quilting and canning but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Charles Briggs.
Arlene is survived by a daughter, Joan E. Harvey (Russell), Hoyt; a sister, Norma Jean Harper, Topeka; two grandchildren, Jeremy R. Harvey (Shelley), Topeka, and Amber D. Kirmse (Alan), Topeka; four great-grandchildren, Indi, Oliver, Kaya and Claire; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services will be held at Burlingame Cemetery, Burlingame.
