QUENEMO — Richard Lee Browning died Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, at his home near Pomona Lake. He was 86.

He was born Sept. 20, 1934, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of Carl and Virginia Walker Browning I. He lived in Topeka for many years and lived near Pomona Lake for the last 30 years.

Richard worked as a carpet installer and in maintenance, at Forbes Field, Topeka. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Vassar.

He married Marla (Schultz) Nix April 30, 1971, at the home of her parents. She survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Virginia; a daughter, Britta Whitaker; and a brother, Carl Browning II.

Besides his wife of 49 years, he is survived by two sons, Harley Browning, Topeka, and Keith Browning, Walsenburg, Colo.; a daughter, Donice Browning, Quenemo; a brother, James Browning, Topeka; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Zion Lutheran Church, Vassar. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to service time at the church. Burial will follow at Vassar Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
