OVERBROOK — Mildred McCreight, Lyndon, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook. She is 100.

She was born March 16, 1919, on the family farm near Vassar, the daughter of Vivian and Verna Redenbaugh Brecheisen.

Mildred grew up near Vassar and lived in rural Lyndon until moving into Lyndon. She graduated from Lyndon High School in 1937. She was a homemaker and farm wife and also worked as a CNA at Hilltop Nursing Home, Lyndon. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Community Church.

Mildred married to Kenneth McCreight April 15, 1941, at her parent’s home near Vassar. He preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1990.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Vivian and Verna; four brothers, Glen, Leonard, Danny and Harold Brecheisen; and four sisters, Wilma Brecheisen, Dorothy Lewis, Esther Johnson and Mabel Athon.

She is survived by two daughters, Ardis Ann Diehl and husband, Clyde, Lyndon, and Arlene “Aggie” Hurt and husband, Rick, Prescott, Ariz.; two brothers, Wallace Brecheisen, Elephant Butte, N.M., and Larry Brecheisen, Conroe, Texas; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Mt. Pleasant Community Church, southeast of Lyndon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Vassar Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gideon’s International or Samaritan’s Purse, for Operation Christmas Child and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.
