Jan. 21, 1949 - April 14, 2018

TOPEKA - Margaret M. Dial, Topeka, died Saturday, April 14, 2018, at a Topeka care facility. She was 78.

She was born Jan. 21, 1940, at Burlingame, the daughter of David S. and Reva Rogers Love. She graduated from Burlingame High School in 1958.

She loved music and sang solos in the Federated Church choir. She was a cheerleader, class president and played community sports in the summer.

Burn permits suspended

No burning today April 30

Bryce Romine, Osage County Emergency Management Director announced that all burn permits are suspended for today, April 30, 2018. This is a no burn day. No outside burning allowed.

The Fire Danger Index will be in the very high fire danger category. The means fire control will be very difficult and require extended effort.

Southerly winds will range from 20 to 30 mph with gusts between 40 and 50 mph.

Joyce Stallbaumer

Died – April 24, 2018

WAKARUSA — Joyce Elaine Hug Stallbaumer, Wakarusa, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 61.

She grew up on the Hug family farm in Scranton, the daughter of Robert and Ruth Livingston Hug. She attended Carbondale Grade School and graduated from Santa Fe Trail High School in 1975. She ran track in high school where she was a state qualifier and held the record in the mile for many years.

Gladys Girsch

Oct. 10, 1922 – April 24, 2018

OSAGE CITY — Gladys “Gladdie” Walton Girsch died April 24, 2018, at Osage Nursing Center, Osage City. She was 95.

She was born Oct. 10, 1922, at Carbondale, the daughter of John W. and Hannah Clayton Walton. She graduated from Garnett High School in 1940. She attended Emporia State College, Washburn and Tulsa Business College.

Ada L. Bourne

Feb. 9, 1926 – April 22, 2018

OVERBROOK — Ada L. Bourne died Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the Brookside Manor, Overbrook. She was 92.

She was born Feb. 9, 1926, near Lyndon, the daughter of George E. And Gertrude Gordon Allison. She graduated from Lyndon High School.

She married Robert Bourne. He preceded her in death in 2010.

She was a farmer’s wife and homemaker. She volunteered for the election board and census. She lived in Osage City since her husband’s death in 2010.

John R. Kunard

Died – April 28, 2018

OTTAWA — John R. Kunard, formerly of Lake Pomona, died Sunday, April 28, 2018, at his home in Ottawa. He was 82.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 28 at North Baptist Church, Ottawa. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Burial with military honors will follow at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.

Memorial contributions may be made to North Baptist Church and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.

Curtis Lynn Shirley

Jan. 18, 1958 – April 15, 2018

ALVA, Okla. — Curtis Lynn Shirley passed from this life Sunday, April 15, 2018, at the Share Convalescent Home, Alva, Okla., with his wife, Shelley, and family by his side. He was 60 years, 2 months and 28 days old.

He was born Jan. 18, 1958, at Topeka, the son of Cherry Webb Shirley and Charles Shirley.

Ida M. Odle

Feb. 6, 1931 – Dec. 20, 2017

OSAGE CITY — Ida M. Odle, formerly of Osage City, died Dec. 20, 2017.

Graveside interment services will be 2 p.m. on April 27 at Homestead Cemetery, Cedar Point.
