Shirley Ann Karr

TOPEKA — Shirley Ann Karr, Overbrook, died Oct. 4, 2019, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka. She was 83.

She was born Feb. 4, 1936, at Kansas City, the daughter of James Knowles and Sarah Frances Cox Knowles. She grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Argentine High School with the class of 1954.

She married Dan Karr Aug. 8, 1954, at Emerson Park Christian Church, Kansas City.

She was a lifelong homemaker and housewife. She was devoted to her family and making sure they all had anything they needed for their day. She was proud of her family and their accomplishments.

She was a member of the Searchlight Club, Overbrook PRIDE, Topeka Genealogy Society and Overbrook American Legion Auxiliary.

She is preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Wanda Miller and Ruby Stroud.

She is survived by three children, Diane Lang and husband, Tom, Michigan Valley, Brett Karr, Overbrook, and Linda Garhart, and husband, Jeff, Owasso, Okla.; a sister, Joyce Gnefkow, Lee's Summit, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Jacob, Michael, Dustin, Taren, MaKenzie, Ashley, Nicholas; and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 at United Methodist Church, Overbrook. Interment will follow at Overbrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8 at United Methodist Church, Overbrook.
