George E. Sanders

TOPEKA — George E. “Shorty” Sanders, Vassar, died Friday, May 25, 2018, at Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka. He was 82.

A memorial visitation will be held 5:30 to 7 p.m. May 30 at Dengel and Son Mortuary. A small memorial will be said at the beginning of the visitation.

Dengel and Son Mortuary, Ottawa, assisted the family.

OVERBROOK — Eleanor L. Smith, Scranton, died Friday, May 25, 2018 at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook. She was 103.

Annette Lyter Miles

Died - May 25, 2018

TOPEKA - Annette Lyter Miles, 80, Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Osage County, died Friday, May 25, 2018. She was 80.

Funeral services will be 5 p.m. Friday, June 1 at Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship, Carbondale. Visitation will be 4 p.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Arlie Ann Gilmore Seitz

1932 – May 7, 2018

OVERBROOK — Arlie Ann Gilmore Seitz was looking forward to hearing and sharing more family history, but instead slipped away peacefully in her sleep May 7, 2018. She was 86.

She was born in 1932, at Overbrook and lived in or traveled through more than a dozen countries as the wife of West Point graduate, LTC Robert Jordan Seitz (1928-2005). The mother of four children, she instilled confidence with her unwavering, unconditional support and love, as well as her lifelong dedication to hard work and community service.

Robert Elder

Feb. 18, 1938 – May 22, 2018

LYNDON — Robert Elder died Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at his home in Lyndon. He was 80.

He was born Feb. 18, 1938, at Pittsburgh, Penn., the son of William and Margaret Neuman Elder.

He lived in Melvern for many years and moved to Lyndon in the last year. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a purchasing agent for 30 years until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Melvern American Legion Post No. 317 and Vassar Zion Lutheran Church.

Dorothy Ann Martin Bradley O'Dell

Sept. 30, 1941 – May 19, 2018

TOPEKA — Dorothy Ann Martin Bradley O'Dell, Topeka, died Saturday, May 19, 2018, at her home with her family and friends. She was 76.

She was born Sept. 30, 1941, at Carbondale, the daughter of Clarence Odie Martin and Hazel Roberta Caldwell Martin. She graduated from Carbondale High School in 1959 and attended Washburn University.

She married Richard L Bradley. They later divorced. Dorothy and Ralph L. O'Dell married Oct. 27, 1990, at First Presbyterian Church, Topeka. He survives of the home.

William Fischer

March 11, 1941 – May 11, 2018

OSAGE CITY — William "Bill" Fischer, Lyndon, died Friday, May 11, 2018, at Osage City. He was 77.

He was born March 11, 1941, at Hunter, the youngest of seven children of Henry and Elizabeth Schneider Fischer. He graduated from Hunter High School.

Margaret M. Dial

Jan. 21, 1949 - April 14, 2018

TOPEKA - Margaret M. Dial, Topeka, died Saturday, April 14, 2018, at a Topeka care facility. She was 78.

She was born Jan. 21, 1940, at Burlingame, the daughter of David S. and Reva Rogers Love. She graduated from Burlingame High School in 1958.

She loved music and sang solos in the Federated Church choir. She was a cheerleader, class president and played community sports in the summer.

Joyce Stallbaumer

Died – April 24, 2018

WAKARUSA — Joyce Elaine Hug Stallbaumer, Wakarusa, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 61.

She grew up on the Hug family farm in Scranton, the daughter of Robert and Ruth Livingston Hug. She attended Carbondale Grade School and graduated from Santa Fe Trail High School in 1975. She ran track in high school where she was a state qualifier and held the record in the mile for many years.

Gladys Girsch

Oct. 10, 1922 – April 24, 2018

OSAGE CITY — Gladys “Gladdie” Walton Girsch died April 24, 2018, at Osage Nursing Center, Osage City. She was 95.

She was born Oct. 10, 1922, at Carbondale, the daughter of John W. and Hannah Clayton Walton. She graduated from Garnett High School in 1940. She attended Emporia State College, Washburn and Tulsa Business College.
