Dean Croucher

OSAGE CITY — Dean Croucher died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at his home in Osage City. He was 82.

He was born Sept. 15, 1935, at Burlingame, the son of Arthur and Emma Jones Croucher. He grew up in Burlingame and lived in Osage City most of his life.

He graduated from Osage City High School in 1953. He worked as an environmental manager for nursing homes in Osage City. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve and was a member of the Eagles in Osage City.

Colleen Ann Bremer

Sept. 7, 1945 – Jan. 13, 2018

TOPEKA — Colleen Ann Bremer died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka. She was 72.

She was born Sept. 7, 1945, at Seneca, the daughter of Cletus and Jeanette Nolte Wichman. She grew up in Holton and lived near Lyndon for many years before moving to Topeka in 2017.

She graduated from Holton High School in 1963. She was a homemaker and a saleswoman for Midway Wholesale in Topeka for several years.

Dortha Viola Bain Tucker

Jan. 5, 1926 – Jan. 11, 2018

OVERBROOK — Dortha Viola Bain Tucker died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at Brookside Manor, Overbrook. She was 92.

She was born Jan. 5, 1926, at Pittsburg the daughter of Alonzo M. Bain and Fanny P. Lance Bain. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1943.

She married Seldon E. Tucker Nov. 28, 1946. He preceded her in death.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Lawrence R. Bain, Laura Hudson, Velma M. Pistole and Mable Erikson.

Gale D. Patterson

Aug. 16, 1925 – Jan. 10, 2018

TOPEKA — Gale D. Patterson passed to his eternal life Jan. 10, 2018, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka, with his family by his side. He was 92.

He was born Aug. 16, 1925, at Melvern, the son of Verlin John and Miriam Criss Patterson. He was the fourth born in a family of six.

Terry Holder

Aug. 14, 1956 – Dec. 25, 2017

TOPEKA — Terry Lee Holder, Osage City, died Dec. 25, 2017, at a Topeka hospital. He was 61.

Services were Jan. 2 at Osage City Library community room, Osage City.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka.

Jervey Allen Kendall

April 13, 1946 – Dec. 31, 2017

VASSAR — Jervey Allen Kendall died Dec. 31, 2017. He was 71.

He was cremated.

A service will be held for him 2 p.m. Jan. 13 at Grace Assembly Church, Leavenworth.

Ronald Harold Fredrickson

June 24, 1931 – Jan. 2, 2018

OSAGE CITY — Ronald Harold Fredrickson passed away peacefully at home Jan. 2, 2018, following a sudden brief illness. He was surrounded by family and loved ones facing the east window overlooking the farm. He was 86.

He was born June 24, 1931, at home on the family farm west of Osage City, the son of Harold and Olive Anderson Fredrickson. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Osage City.

Ronald Fredrickson

OSAGE CITY — Ronald Harold Fredrickson passed away peacefully Jan. 2, 2018, at his home west of Osage City after a sudden brief illness. He was 86.

He was born June 24, 1931, at home on the family farm west of Osage City.

Funeral arrangements are pending at VanArsdale Funeral Home, Osage City.

Harold Poertner

Sept. 3, 1944 – Dec. 29, 2017

TOPEKA — Harold “Ed” Poertner, Osage City, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, near Topeka. He was 73.

He was born Sept. 3, 1944, at Wamego, the son of Maxwell and Marie Baggs Carley. He was adopted and raised by Fred and Mabel Burkdoll Poertner.

He grew up around the Vassar and Lyndon communities. He lived in Emporia from 1967 to 2011 and has lived southeast of Osage City since then.
