National Night Out Aug. 20 in Carbondale

CARBONDALE—National Night Out is in fact a national event. Locally, however, Carbondale is hosting its own National Night Out Aug. 20, giving locals the opportunity to meet area police officers, fire fighters and responders.

Events begin at 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Jones Park by the swimming pool. Events throughout the day will focus toward children, while the evening activities will be for adults.

Events during the day will include, Kansas Highway Patrol helicopter, local emergency vehicles, crash dummies, prizes, food and drawings. You must be present to win for all prizes. Other activities include a waterslide, bouncy pirate ship, rock climbing wall, cake walk, three legged race, water balloon toss, duck pond, bean bag toss and much more. Again this year, a softball game will be held.

Adults are encourage to bring blankets and lawn chairs to the evening festivities and listen to the band “Jangalang.”
