CARBONDALE—Carbondale will host its annual fall celebration again this weekend with carnival rides, food, games and more Oct. 6-8 in the city’s downtown.
“For many years now, the Fall Celebration has been a tradition that has brought to our community not only fun and pleasure, but also a sense of pride and unity,” said Mary Burgett.
Toby’s Carnival will be set up all three days in the Carbondale City Park; old fashioned children’s games will be hosted; and the Carbondale Lions will be selling funnel cakes throughout the festival.
Saturday will begin with a family bike ride at 10:30 a.m. at Fike Field; a car show will also be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and a parade will be at 6 p.m., followed by live music performed by the Delta Haze band Saturday night.
“A new addition this year will be small-item sales by non-profit groups,” Burgett said.
Additional vendors will be placed throughout the city.
“It takes a lot of people willing to work in order to make a large-scale community event like the fall celebration possible,” Burgett said.
